Fifth Grade had a great Valentine's Day! They had fun learning about fractions with conversation hearts during Math. Then they stacked them up to see how many they could stack before they fell. Some students had luck stacking 10, 11, and 12 hearts before the toppled over. We finished the day with a party complete with treats and a movie. Teresa Hawkins makes the best cookies!

Partnership in Parenting celebrated National Children's Dental Health Month and Valentine's Day at our February group connection. The theme was "Big on Brushing," so we read a book together about how to protect our two sets of teeth and made a very big toothbrush. We also checked out the baby bottle tooth decay model to see how going to bed with a bottle or drinking from a sippy cup of juice all day can quickly damage teeth. The children made red and pink "Eye Spy" bottles to explore in quiet places like the doctor's office or a restaurant. There was an assortment of Valentine books to choose from, like the "Brush, Brush, Brush" book by Rookie Toddler, as well as a valentine treat to take home. The star of the day, though, was Lil Magi, the dental dragon. He let the children brush his huge teeth with a giant brush, but look out when it's time for him to spit! Before leaving, everyone received a bag of dental supplies and information to help make brushing a twice-daily habit, even for the tiniest PIP-Squeaks. Thank you, Douglas County Health Department, for your generous donation!
