Douglas County Health Department is looking forward to seeing everyone here on Wednesday, January 25 to share information about an exciting healthcare option for Douglas County students and their families!
Class of 2022's own Caroline Smith competed for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen against county fair queens from 73 counties. We would like to congratulate Caroline on being named 1st runner up!! This is the best any Miss Edgar County has done at the state pageant.
We are so proud of you, Caroline!
Last week some of our students attended LIFT Exploration Day in Mattoon. They learned about the different programs offered and participated in hands-on demonstrations.
Last week seniors listened to Dr. Ryan Burge, Brian Rhode, and Shelby Bosch.
They discussed college life, careers in the trades, and nursing. They also completed their FAFSAs and worked on scholarships and resumes to prepare for life after Shiloh.
Partnership in Parenting families welcomed the new year this week at the January group connection by moving their big muscles in the Newman Community Center gym. The PIP-Squeaks rode on toys, climbed, threw & caught balls and shot baskets, worked on tummy time, and practiced their social skills.
As always, the little green tractor was the favorite. It's hard to share and take turns when you are little, but getting to play together is great practice!

Pam Evans, JH/HS Science Teacher, has been selected to participate in the pilot offering of the new American Meteorological Society course “Project Ice: Exploring Paleoclimate Science, Ice Cores, and Climate Change” at Oregon State University in July. This course is sponsored by the National Science Foundation/COLDEX.
Only Certified AMS Teachers or those that lead DataStreme course teams were invited to apply, and a number of factors were considered to select the 12 participants. She will be among the first to participate in the course and provide valuable feedback for all future offerings of Project Ice!

In an effort to keep our community informed, we are sharing information that we currently have 4 positive COVID cases in the elementary side of our building. We do not want to unnecessarily alarm anyone, but we also want to be transparent. We are doubling our efforts to sanitize the building as the safety of our students and staff is our first priority.
If your student is experiencing COVID symptoms, our school nurse has access to free COVID tests that are available to be sent home. Please contact her with your request or questions at boschk@shiloh1.org or call at (217)531-1850 ext. 1019.
Please do not send your student to school if you are concerned for their health or they test positive for COVID.

Seniors have mailboxes outside of Mrs. Pierce's office where all paper copies of scholarships will be distributed. Digital copies will be on the school website.
It is up to seniors to check their mailboxes or the school website. Scholarships can be mailed directly to the address on the application. They can also turn applications into Mrs. Pierce, and she will mail or hand deliver them for the students.
If you have any questions email Mrs. Pierce or stop by her office.
