Partnership in Parenting met for their September group connection, "Watch Me Grow." The children read the Belly Button Book by Sandra Boynton, and there were lots of giggles when pointing to their own belly buttons throughout the story. The children were then weighed & measured and had a life-sized drawing made. They colored self-portraits and created apple trees from arm, hand, and fingerprints. At the May group next spring, the children will be measured again to see how much they have grown and include their artwork from the year to make an annual journal.
For snack, the PIP-Squeaks made a likeness of themselves by using a Ritz cracker for a head and pieces of string cheese for arms and legs. They each chose a book to take home along with a mirror for learning about facial features and emotions.
The next PIP group connection will be Wednesday, October 18, at 9:30 AM at the Shiloh Prairie. Mrs. Saddoris and Miss Julie will be guiding the tour and sharing about bugs, plants and wildlife.

September is suicide prevention awareness month. Thank you to these two students who took it on their own to spread awareness today to their classmates.

School Picture Day is next Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Go to my.lifetouch.com and use code EVTB68QRP to order.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease Update
PreK and Kindergarteners will return to us on Monday, September 18, but we are starting to see HFMD in other elementary grades. Please take extra precautions to keep everyone safe.
Please check your children very thoroughly for anything out of the ordinary. If they tell you that they feel funny or otherwise, it could very well be HFMD. For the safety of the entire district, do not send kids to school if they have signs or symptoms until they have been cleared by the school nurse.
Thank you for your patience and for taking extra precautions. Our staff has been working diligently to clean and disinfect the school to make sure it is safe. Nothing is more important than the safety of our students and staff.

Bus Schedule 9/18 to 9/23

Reminder to parents, today is Wednesday. Every Wednesday this school year will be an early 2:05 dismissal.

Titan Cheerleading Kiddie Camp - forms are available in the JH office.

Due to the high number of PreK and Kindergarten students who have contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth, Shiloh will not have class in session for any preschool or kindergarten student on our campus from Wednesday, September 13 through Friday, September 15. Class will resume on Monday, September 18.
If your child has a confirmed case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth, the school nurse will need to clear them before they can return to school.
As an additional precaution, our janitors have been sanitizing and cleaning the entire building.

Fall tutoring begins today, September 11, 2023. See below for drop off locations at times.
We are looking forward to a great Fall Tutoring semester! If you have any questions about tutoring, please feel free to contact Mr. Myers at myersb@shiloh1.org.

Dear Parents/Guardians-
This letter is to notify you that Shiloh is experiencing Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD). At this time, the illness is specific to our preschool students. HFMD is a contagious illness that is caused by different viruses. It is common in infants and children; however, older children and adults can also catch it.
People may experience symptoms such as: pain while swallowing, dehydration, fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, or malaise. (Skin): blister, peeling, rashes, or red spots. (Also common): canker sore, coughing, headache, irritability, or sore throat.
Most people get this contagious disease through physical contact with someone who has it. Close contact such as coughing, sneezing, and hugging can spread the illness. HFMD can also be spread by touching objects that are contaminated with the virus.
The key to preventing HFMD is to practice good personal hygiene and maintain a clean environment. Once the infection occurs, prompt attention will keep it under control and prevent it from spreading.
Even if only one family member has HFMD, everyone in the household should follow the same sanitary regimen. We should all wash regularly with soap and water.
As we take the health of our staff and students very seriously, our custodial staff has and will continue to take extra precautions when it comes to cleaning our desks, door knobs, lockers, drinking fountains, bathrooms and overall building.
If you have any further questions or concerns, you can contact our school nurse, Kara Bosch, RN at (217)531-1850 Ext. 1019.
Sincerely,
Bill Myers, Superintendent, Shiloh CUSD #1

Families, we have been utilizing our ICU list to track students who have missing or incomplete assignments. Shiloh has set the goal of having every student complete every assignment. To help reach this goal, we are providing EXTRA HELP and EXTRA time. This extra help time is NOT a detention or punishment. To learn more about ICU, please see the slides below.
When your student has a missing assignment or needs to make corrections, the ICU list is a reminder. The student can use this reminder to complete the work in study hall or at home. The student could also be assigned to attend working lunch. Starting September 11, students could also be assigned ICU tutoring after school Monday-Thursday. During working lunch and after school time, staff members will be there to help or reteach as needed. Lunch and after school interventions are mandatory unless the work has been satisfactorily completed.
If you would like to add an additional contact phone number or email for ICU notifications, please email myersb@shiloh1.org. In the 2 weeks we've been hosting working lunch for grades 5-12, 92.5% of the missing assignments have been completed!
